Congratulations to AIFIS fellow, Eko Widianto (University of Galway & UIN Walisongo Semarang) on the publication of his latest article, “Tracing Pedagogical DNA: Textbooks as Archives in the History of Indonesian Instruction in the United States.”
This marks Eko’s second published article under the AIFIS-Luce Fellowship. His research traces the history of Indonesian language instruction in the U.S., drawing on archival research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Cornell University, as well as oral history interviews with key figures in the field.
The research began in the summer of 2024 and was made possible through support from AIFIS and the Henry Luce Foundation. We’re proud to see this work continue to grow and contribute to the history of Indonesian Studies in the United States.
