Dr. Mark Iñigo M. Tallara is an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman’s Asian Center. He was previously a faculty member and founding co-coordinator of the Southeast Asian Studies Program at De La Salle University in Manila. He is also a founding president of CHARTS Philippines, or the Convention of History, Arts, Religion, & Tradition Scholars of the Philippines. He is an active member of the International Association for the History of Religion (IAHR) and the American Academy of Religion (AAR). Mark completed his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He previously worked at ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore from 2008-13. A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Manila, he completed his Master of Arts (magna cum laude) in Philosophy in 2007. Mark was also an IASACT Scholar at the Institute of Advanced Study in Asian Cultures and Theologies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018 and 2020-21. His research interests include Southeast Asian Studies, Philosophy, Culture, History, and Religion.
