Danny Widiatmo

Danny Widiatmo is a doctoral student in the East Asia and the Making of the Modern World (TIGP EAMW) Program, a joint doctoral program between Academia Sinica and the College of Liberal Arts, National Chengchi University, Taipei. His research focuses on diaspora and the idea of “return” mobilities, particularly among ethnic Chinese Indonesians and Chinese Filipinos. His broader research interests lie in the political history and cultural anthropology of Island Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on inter-ethnic relations, place-making, and transnational interactions. His research examines how identities and senses of (un)belonging are shaped through historical processes and the everyday practices of migration and mobility.
