  • ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute, Seminar Room 2 30 Heng Mui Keng Terrace Singapore, 119614 Singapore (map)

Organizer: ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute

Type/Location: Hybrid / Singapore

Description:

This seminar will examine the key findings of the flagship survey of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council’s (PECC) State of the Region Report 2025-2026. The Report features an annual expert opinion survey that was carried out from June to August 2025 to gather the views of over 500 leaders representing the spheres of government, business, academia, civil society, and media across 24 economies, on their outlook for the region from 2026 to 2027.

More than half of respondents expect subdued growth for the global economy. Increased protectionism and trade wars emerged as the No. 1 risk to growth. Global economic slowdown, supply chain disruptions, inflationary pressures, and climate change were also identified as other risks. Global trade is also entering a phase of profound and ongoing disruption shaped by structural and political shifts rather than temporary fluctuations.
