• “Wayang potehi and its struggles in the multicultural society of Indonesia” by Dr. Yuan-Hsin Tung

• “Thai Traditional music instruments and its influence on music pedagogy in Hawaii” by Dr. Ben Fairfield

This panel focuses on the rich diversity of music and theatrical traditions in Southeast Asia and Southeast Asia in western pedagogy. Traditional arts, such as puppetry and music, are diverse and linked to cultural identity in Southeast Asia and have adapted through migration. They will discuss the current status of the tradition they research and trends of the theatrical and musical forms in Southeast Asia and beyond. Dr. Ricardo D. Trimillos, Emeritus Professor in the department, will moderate the discussion.
