Effective Academic Presentation Skills for Early-Career Scholars

  • Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia Russian Federation Blvd. (110) Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh Cambodia (map)

Organizer: Center for Khmer Studies

Type/Location: Hybrid / Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Description:

Academic presentation skills are essential for scholars at all levels to communicate their research findings clearly, confidently, and persuasively. For early-career researchers, including undergraduate and graduate students, these skills are crucial for developing effective communication that will benefit both their academic pursuits and future careers. Since many researchers and students, especially in Cambodia and other Southeast Asian countries, do not receive sufficient training on how to deliver academic presentations effectively and professionally, this workshop aims to fill that gap. Topics include structuring content logically, designing engaging visual aids, and mastering verbal delivery techniques. Emphasis is placed on understanding audience needs, thorough preparation, managing anxiety, and utilizing feedback for continuous improvement. By reviewing best practices and useful tips, the workshop seeks to equip participants with the tools necessary to enhance their academic visibility and advance their scholarly careers through effective knowledge dissemination. Ultimately, developing strong presentation skills is essential for sharing knowledge, connecting with peers, and establishing a professional reputation within the academic community and beyond.
