Sulo: The Philippine Studies Initiative at NYU, in collaboration with the New York Southeast Asia Network (NYSEAN) and Team Pinas, invites you to a panel discussion with Team Pinas on current political issues in the Philippines. We will have two fireside chats on (1) China’s role in the West Philippine Sea and (2) Duterte’s War on Drugs and impeachment. This will be followed by a Q&A.

About Team Pinas:

Team Pinas is a multidisciplinary collective of Filipino scholars, policy experts, legal advocates, and civic organizers working to strengthen democratic institutions, counter disinformation (including AI-enabled manipulation), and expand meaningful GenZennial participation in public life.

Anchored by a Core Team of nationally recognized experts, Team Pinas operates as a research-driven civic platform that integrates policy analysis, public education, and sustained on-the-ground engagement. Central to this approach is building and supporting local chapters nationwide, ensuring that research and public discourse translate into concrete civic action within communities.
