[Recording] Populisms in the Global South: Lessons from Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Thailand

Recorded on July 18th, 2025

This roundtable brings together comparative evidence from Latin America and Southeast Asia to unpack the mechanics and consequences of populisms. By reading Thailand’s current trajectory with parallel dynamics in the Philippines and across the wider Global South, the discussion aims to illuminate how crises, gender, charismatic leadership can either widen or constrict political inclusion—and what that means for Thailand’s inequality and ongoing political transition.

This event was organized by the Institute of Security and International Studies (ISIS Thailand), a NYSEAN Partner.
