In this article published by East Asia Forum, NYSEAN member Meredith Weiss discusses the re-election of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and the People’s Action Party (PAP). The campaign featured high candidate turnover and vigorous policy debate, though the PAP’s message of stability amid global uncertainty ultimately resonated with voters. While the Workers’ Party remains the leading opposition force, opposition gains were limited despite strong rally turnout and robust manifestos. The result reflected broad support for continuity, even as the campaign revealed a public appetite for more diverse political voices.
