[Recording] Mining Landscapes of Ancient Cambodia: Research, Documentation, and Preservation

This talk by archaeologist Dr. Sébastien Clouet explores the mining and metallurgical landscapes of ancient Cambodia, focusing on the Chhaep region (Preah Vihear Province), recently identified as one of the most extensive premodern mining complexes in mainland Southeast Asia. Covering more than 500 km², the site provides a historical record of over 2,500 years of continuous activity, from the protohistoric period to the Angkorian era. Additional evidence from Khvav (Siem Reap Province) and the Vat Phou area (Champassak Province) points to a broader, interconnected network of resource exploitation.
