MEKONG INDEPENDENT

Mekong Independent is a publication that aims to create more space for journalism in Southeast Asia. We are committed to safely publishing stories from reporters on the ground, who struggle with political repression and an ever-shrinking independent media sector. We want to inform the public on systemic issues, investigate injustice and corruption, and explore solutions to the region’s most pressing problems.

We are a nonprofit organization based in the U.S. We help journalists raise money for their work, and pay reporters and editors with funds received through grants and donations. We collaborate with independent local news outlets on investigations and content-sharing.
