I received my PhD in Comparative Literature from UCLA. My research focuses on depictions of the European Middle Ages in Filipino literature and film, that is, (post)colonial medievalism in the Philippines (and elsewhere in Southeast Asia and the Pacific), and its bearing on notions of identity, nationalism, (de)coloniality, modernity and periodization.
