Chanaporn (New) Tohsuwanwanich is currently a Master’s of Urban Planning student at New York University with a specialization in International Development Planning. Before her graduate studies, she was a UCLA undergraduate in geography with minors in Geographic Information Systems & Technologies and Urban & Regional Studies. She is passionate about affordable housing and community development, conducting her honors thesis on the Baan Mankong informal settlement redevelopment policy in Bangkok, Thailand. Many of her independent research projects tackle various urban challenges, ranging from walkability, extreme heat to private-public spaces in the city. Her urban planning focus centers on Southeast Asian cities, exploring the unique contexts and challenges of urban development.
