Organizer: Myanmar Studies Program at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute
Type/Location: Virtual
Description:
The State Security and Peace Commission military regime in Myanmar has announced a general election in phases on 28 December 2025 and 11 January 2026, introducing a mixed-member proportional system, and determining the number of townships for the polls. There are varying external and internal expectations towards the election, the credibility of such polls, and a grim sense of entrapment among the Myanmar populace, and campaigning for the election started on 28 October. Join the ISEAS Myanmar Studies Programme for a conversation with a senior researcher on the core participants in Myanmar’s 2025 election, and the role of supporting or influencing actors.
