Description:

The NYU Program in International Relations invites you to join us for a brown bag roundtable on Gen-Z and resisting authoritarianism in Burma, hosted by Professor Frances O'Morchoe.

This roundtable explores the toolkit of youth-led resistance to entrenched authoritarianism in Burma. Panelists will unpack the 2026 political climate, scrutinising the implications of the junta’s nominal transfer of power for the future of the Spring Revolution. The discussion highlights the methods Burmese youth have used to sustain a defiant democratic struggle amid junta violence and a protracted humanitarian crisis.

  • Kota Watanabe: Visiting Scholar at NYU Wagner studying civil wars and transnational organised crime in Southeast Asia
