[Recording] Arakan Army Advances: Implications for Myanmar’s Civil War
Recorded on August 13th, 2025
With the Arakan Army (AA) now holding the majority of territory in Myanmar’s Rakhine state and the group pushing even further beyond into junta territory in other areas, it is critical to understand the group’s current position, network of alliances, and possible future moves. As Myanmar’s civil war rages on, the AA’s continued movements, priorities, and constraints will deeply shape the war’s trajectory. This session discusses these topics and considers the deeper implications of AA advances for the ultimate future of the war.
